This book brings to readers vibrant ‘near perfect’ illustrations of Joaquin Gonzalez Dorao along with vivid descriptions of his travels across the globe. The book contains a range of diverse destinations across Europe beautifully captured in the artist’s master strokes. The destinations do not follow any definite pattern or rating in this book, but have been chosen randomly based on the author’s trip there and for ease of browsing, have been arranged in alphabetical order. In addition, there is a map to help readers locate the destinations. While backpacking to different destinations across Europe, the author would carry his notebook, colours, brushes and everything else he needed to capture in its pages what he saw. Once at the destination, he would sit down at a quiet place with a good view to paint. As he continued to visit more and more places, his notebook became bigger and bigger with the detailed illustrations of the different places. The same were later enriched with his experiences in the form of a travelogue and published in various issues of Touriosity Travelmag. The book compiles some of the major destinations of Europe. In addition to simple illustrations using his paint brushes or markers, the author has often used items like used postage stamps, wrappers, tickets etc. to make his illustrations come alive and provide a perfect glimpse of the place that it seeks to capture. These add to the uniqueness of the book.
 
A travel artist or illustrator is somewhat like a modern-day impressionist; he has the gift of being able to quickly capture a structure or a random scene. However, the work is tedious and calls for great attention. A travel illustrator has to draw very fast, especially when capturing scenes, like that in touristy markets, or parks. Sometimes, they draw just the outlines and fill the colours and other minute details later on. Working on the touristy places are also difficult due to the presence of crowd and too much attention from the people around. But at the end, travel art looks beautiful! And there is no second opinion about it.
